I thought I'd add an open discussion thread for anyone who would like to respond to my work. Feel free to let me know what you think, what you liked, what you hated, what you found thought-provoking, where you thought my analysis was shoddy, what I left out, etc. Also, feel free to talk to each other, ask questions, opinions, etc.

I'll definitely be around. Part of what I love about academia is the exchange of ideas.

First of all, thank you all so so SO much for all the comments and good wishes. I could not have turned out the work I did without your help and enthusiasm.

Here's the link to my thesis: "Hairy Thuggish Women": Female Werewolves, Gender, and the Hoped-For Monster.

Click on the 'View/Open' link at the bottom of the page to get a pdf. (Warning! It's hefty: 211 pages before appendices, sources, etc. This is partly because the margins had to be 1.25''.)

I'm happy with my work. In a perfect world, I'd have had the time to do another revision or two, to smooth some of my writing and to excise some of the (many!) quotes from other academic sources, maybe deepen my analysis a bit more. But in terms of the amount of material I was working with and my time frame, I feel pretty good. And my presentation went very well. Obviously, I'll need to heavily revise to publish any piece of it, or use it for a Ph.D application, but it may appear in another form somewhere sometime.

Anyway, enough about me. :) I hope you all find something interesting and thought-provoking in my work. I probably won't be visiting this page too often from now on, but I will be checking my gmail address periodically. (I still have emails owed to some folks, I know.)

The End is Nigh

Hi everyone:

I just wanted to let folks know that I've finished the written part of my thesis -- I present to my committee in two days (eek!) and will have some odds and ends to fix before submitting it to my graduate school, but for the most part, it's pretty done.

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use some of the more recent comments -- they just came in too close to the deadline.

BUT!

thankyouthankyouthankyouthankYOU to everyone who expressed interest, answered my questions, and shared their love for these movies. I couldn't have written my second chapter and part of my third without you.

I will be posting info on how to get a copy of my thesis if you want read it later.
